The Foundation: Core Competencies
The foundation for any functional organization is a competent project manager.
Project managers are the backbones of organizations, across every industry. With any business, one must be in charge of all projects associated with running a successful company. The foundations of project management are deeply important for any manager and entrepreneur to learn- competencies like communication, adaptability, task delegation, risk management, and strategic thinking are all such examples. Having the ability to understand the general lifespan of a project, and how to manage task loads, are all essential capabilities of a project manager (and general manager!) as a whole.
Some specific competencies are incredibly important to understand in the modern digital age. These competencies are most important in an ever-changing global world- they help the project manager to stay on-par with current situations, employee personalities, and other forms of organizational relationships. Project management, critical thinking, conflict resolution, decision making, and cross-cultural skills are all deeply important in our increasingly digitized world. Understanding how these competencies interact with each other and with the broader society are important in creating educated project managers as a whole.
